Ice Breaking Care Society (IBCS) established in early 2008 as a charity relief group in response to the ice storms in China.  IBCS’ goal is to promote peace in the trouble regions around the world through respect, equality, love and care.  We believe that through poverty alleviation programs to the needy and providing relief to victims of disasters we can breakdown barriers between people, bring hope and peace to those that are in distress.

On May 12th, China was struck by a magnitude 7.9 earthquake destroying homes, buildings, trapping untold numbers in mounds of concrete, steel and earth and leaving thousands of people homeless and 22,000 dead. In response to this disastrous earthquake, IBCS once again acted immediately to raise money to help rebuild healthy, environmentally sustainable communities from the earthquake affected region in Sichuan, China to provide education, housing, health care and social services for the victims.

Name: Christina C.
Organization:   Ice Breaking Care Society 500 Club.
Our cause: Norman Bethune Medical Relief Fund.

Our goal is to raise $1 mill. in 2009 to build a hospital in Sichuan, to provide its medical supplies and to purchase mobile clinics to service 4 remote regions in South Western China (Gansu, QingHai, Guizhou, Sichuan).  It's called 500 Club because, the idea was if we have 500 members, each raising $2000, we could easily achieve the $1 mill within one year. (Amount to be raised between Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal).

Why were you inspired to help this cause? My dad is the driving force of IBCS 500 Club and I have taken the initiative to help him coordinate the volunteers and fundraising committee here in Toronto (IBCS originated in Vancouver).
